Manipur: NMC announces temporary arrangements for displaced students of 4 medical colleges
It is going to be a temporary arrangement, as stated by NMC.
The Commission said that it would be a temporary arrangement. Earlier, a total of twenty-seven tribal MBBS students displaced from three medical colleges located in the capital Imphal were barred from appearing in their first-year university examination early this month.
Displaced Kuki-Zo medical students on Tuesday staged a protest against Manipur University for not allowing them to write their MBBS Phase-1 examinations at Churachandpur Medical College (CMC) despite the National Medical Commission (NMC) having no objection to displaced students appearing in university exams from their parent college or from a different institution.
NMC on Wednesday wrote to the commissioner-cum-secretary (health and family welfare), Manipur, "All displaced students from RIMS, JNIMS, CMC, and SHIJA Medical College to be allowed to have online classes and/or on hybrid mode at Churachandpur Medical College (CMC), Manipur."
"Examinations for all such displaced students also to be arranged in that medical college (CMC) only. Deficiency in attendance and internal assessment to be arranged through special classes," added the letter from the director, of the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) at NMC, Shambhu Sharan Kumar, as reported by TOI.
