In yet another MBBS admission scam which was found in Noida, three men arrested for duping many MBBS aspirants of crores of rupees on the pretext of helping them in getting admission to government medical colleges.
After a gang was busted in Navi Mumbai, now three men were arrested in Noida for allegedly being involved in a MBBS admission scam. These men were arrested for duping several MBBS aspirants of crores of rupees on the pretext of helping them to get admission to government medical colleges, said the police.
The arrested accused have been identified as Neeraj Kumar Singh, Abhishek Anand and Mohammad Zubair. Police said that INR 19 lakh cash, some gold and silver jewellery have been recovered from the possession of the trio.
The accused persons had a consultancy firm named ‘Career Junction’ in Noida and through this, they duped the MBBS aspirants of crores of rupees by falsely assuring them admissions, added the police.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Vishal Pandey, Sector 63 police station, said, “The accused had opened an office posing as a consultancy firm. They targeted candidates who had taken the NEET exam but missed getting admission into courses by a small margin. They assured candidates of admission into reputed medical colleges and even gave them fake seat allotment letters,” as reported by The Print.
“The gang charged around INR 15 lakh to INR 30 lakh from a candidate for helping them with admission. The charges depended on the financial condition of the candidate. But gullible aspirants realised the fraud only once they reached the college for education,” the police further added.
Additional DCP Pandey said an FIR has been lodged against the accused at Sector 63 police station while details about their criminal antecedents are also being verified.
