MBBS bond policy pushes students to economic liability in future: Activists
As per reports, lawyers and academicians have come in support of the agitating MBBS students in Haryana and said that the bond policy pushes the medical students to economic liability in future.
Now, as per the Indian Express report, a group of social activists, including academicians and lawyers, extended support to the agitating MBBS students, who are protesting against the bond policy introduced by the Haryana government.
The activists under the banner of Nagrik Manch (Citizen Forum) held a People’s Assembly at Rohtak’s Bar Association Hall. On this occasion, Professor Pramod Gouri claimed that no other state was implementing a bond policy like the one by the Haryana government. Gouri alleged: “This policy involves the bank as a party to the bond and pushes the students to economic liability in future.”
What happened so far
The agitation is going on since November 1, and despite several assurances from the government and meetings between government officials and the students' representatives, still, the protest is going on. The students are demanding bond-free admission so that they will not have any financial liability once they complete the course. However, the government is saying that the bond amount needs to be repaid only if the student refuses to serve in the state for the period mentioned in the bond agreement.
