MBBS interns of Central Government Institutes to get increased stipend of INR 30,070

The stipends for MBBS interns of Central Government Institutes have been revised and fixed to INR 30,070.

The health ministry, Government of India has increased the stipend of MBBS interns of Central Government Institutes to INR 30,070.

The official statement in this regard says, "The rate of stipend to INR 30,070 per month with effect from January 1, 2022, in respect of MBBS interns of Central Government Institutes under MoHFW."

The rate of stipend of BDS interns of RIMS, Imphal to INR 30,070 per month with effect from January 1, 2022, along with previous revisions i.e.INR 23,500 per month w.e.f. November 1, 2018 (in modification of earlier revision approved by Department of Expenditure) and to INR 26,300 per month w.e.f. January 1, 2020, added the notification.

Also, arrears due to the above revision will also be given to the interns from the effective date and the expenditure involved in the said revision and arrears of the stipend shall be met from the sanctioned budget grant of the concerned institute/hospital.

Haryana MBBS interns demand stipend equivalent to Central Universities

Following the increase in stipend, the interns of Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College sitting on strike are demanding an equivalent increase in stipend.

“The stipend received by MBBS students during an internship in the state was increased to INR 17,000 in the year 2018. There has been no increase in internship stipend for the last six years whereas, in medical colleges under the Central Government, the stipend has been increased to INR 30,070. Our demand is that our stipend should also be increased to INR 30,070. The incentives given to doctors have not been increased since 2009. Our demand is that the incentives given to the doctors should be increased," said the medicos in a letter to the Director of the Medical Education and Research Department in Haryana.
