MCC has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking clarification on the resumption of NEET MDS 2021.

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking clarification on the resumption of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Master of Dental Science NEET MDS 2021.

The Round-1 of MDS Counselling 2021 is temporarily on hold to seek clarification from the supreme court, the counselling will resume after MCC receives clarification from the apex court in this regard.

The official website of MCC has uploaded the information where the committee said, "All Candidates/Institutes participating in the NEET-MDS counselling, 2021 are hereby informed that Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS, MoHFW has filed a Special Leave Petition before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India bearing Diary Number 20808/2021 seeking clarification of order dated 25/08/2021 of the Hon'ble Madras High Court in Contempt Petition No. 181 of 2021 in W.P (C) No. 8326/2020 in the matter of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Vs. UoI & Ors."

On August 25, 2021, the Madras High Court had said that the 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in AIQ (All India Quota) is not permissible without Supreme Court's approval. This came after the central government on July 29 had approved 27% reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) and 10% for EWS in AIQ medical seats from the current academic session of 2021-22.

In view of Madras High Court's order on August 25, a legal opinion is being sought by MCC in this matter.
