Medical Admission in Maharashtra: Aspirants Await Nod for 49 New Colleges
Medical students in Maharashtra state await a nod to 49 new medical colleges by the state's Chief Minister for MBBS and nursing institutes.
Medical aspirants in Maharashtra state are waiting for the state's Chief Minister NoD and a letter of permission for 49 new medical colleges in Maharashtra including MBBS and nursing institutes. These 49 institutes have completed multiple inspections and can cover the high demands for MBBS and BSc Nursing seats in Maharashtra state. These institutes include a mixed bag of new institutes willing to offer a range of medical education programmes including MBBS colleges, physiotherapy, naturopathy and nursing courses.
These 49 institutes have completed the mandatory level of inspections, minimum criteria as well as an inspection by the committees of the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and the Directorate of Medical Education and Research.
List of Colleges Required NoD
As per TOI, these institutes that require Nod include three MBBS colleges, 19 nursing colleges, 18 post-basic nursing, one dental college, 14 Ayurveda, and two homoeopathy institutes. The Maharashtra Medical College Nod list of 49 institutes includes some physiotherapy and naturopathy colleges as well.
Students willing to get admission in the MBBS programme in Maharashtra shall have valid National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores to secure admission. However, students have to qualify the admission cutoff in order to secure a seat in their desired programme. The MBBS cutoff in government colleges in the open category has been recorded at 642 in the round 1 merit list in comparison to last year cutoff of 587. The private college cutoff, however, for the open category closed at 602 in the first year.

There are few government and private nursing colleges that consider the NEET UG score for admission to a BSc Nursing course. Some of the top nursing colleges that consider NEET scores are: All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi Banaras Hindu University in Uttar Pradesh Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Kolkata Christian Medical College in Vellore The admission cutoff for these and other top colleges is usually above a 250 score on the NEET. Therefore, with 167 marks and EWS category, you may get admission to a private nursing college like Terna Nursing College in Navi Mumbai.
