Medical students join hunger strike for Maratha quota in Latur city

As per reports, many medical students on Monday joined the chain hunger strike for the Maratha quota demand in Latur city of Maharashtra. Members of various Maratha organisations joined the protest which was started by six activists of Maratha Kranti Morcha.
The protest by a group of women who climbed up a 70-feet overhead water tank in Latur city on Sunday for the Maratha reservation continued on Monday, as reported by The Print.
At least nine women had perched themselves atop the water tank located in the Gandhi Chowk area. On Sunday night, four of them came down, but others have not heeded the appeals made by government officials so far.
Maratha Quota Stir: More Details
On Monday Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) suspended its services from Pune to two districts of Marathwada after protestors demanding reservation for the Maratha community pelted stones at some buses.
Dnyaneshwar Ranavare, depot in-charge at Shivajinagar said that services from Pune to Beed and Latur districts of Marathwada were disrupted during the day, while several buses going to various places via Beed were cancelled.
On daily basis, twenty five buses are operated to Beed from Pune and nine buses to Latur every day, he said, as reported by Deccan Herald.
"The police have directed us not to operate buses to these districts. Services on the other routes have been smooth," he added.
