A final year medical student in Mumbai has reportedly committed suicide.

The final year medical student identified as Shreyasa Pathkar has allegedly committed suicide at her residence in the Agripada area of Mumbai. Patkar hanged herself on Thursday afternoon when her family members were not at home. She was a last-year medical student in the Department of Occupational Therapy.

No suicide note has been recovered from the spot, said police. "We did not find any suicide note from the spot. Even the family members have not expressed any suspicion about anyone. We are investigating the matter," the police said, as reported by Times Now.

When her parents returned home, they found the body of their daughter hanging and immediately rushed her to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Police then reached the spot after receiving the information about the incident and took the body into their possession later the body was sent for post-mortem.

The police have registered a case under Accidental Death Report (ADR) and started further investigation.

Two cases of suicide by medical students of two leading medical colleges in Mumbai have come to the fore in the last month.

In a similar tragic incident, on September 18, a 28-year-old woman, Rekha Devasi, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the terrace of a building along with her 6-year-old daughter in Mira Road in Mumbai.

The deceased used to live with her husband and two children in the same building said police. In this case, also, no suicide note was found.
