Nahan Medical College Ragging Case: 9 MBBS students get suspended for 45 days
They were found guilty of ragging juniors of 2023 batch & also allegedly used abusive languages.
Nahan Medical College management has suspended a total of nine MBBS students for 45 days and also imposed a fine of INR 50,000 each on them for allegedly being involved in a ragging case.
As per Tribune India report, the college investigated the matter and then took the decision. The management said that no such case has ever come to light in the college since its inception in 2016.
"Nine students of the 2022 batch were found guilty of ragging junior students of the 2023 batch in the hall of the Anatomy Department on March 4. They also used an abusive language with the junior students. The Student Welfare Advisory Committee investigated the matter and found the nine students guilt of ragging," said Principal of Medical College Dr Rajiv Tuli.
He also added that those who are suspepnded cannot participate in any sports, literary function and other activities of the meidcal college. In future too, if any case of ragging of a junior student by any senior student comes to light, then strict action will be taken against them.
National Medical Commission has been raising the issue of ragging time and again. The Commission created an anti-ragging committee in 2022 and also in the year 2023, collected compliance report on anti-ragging measures, incidents of ragging and actions taken by the medical colleges.
In Gazette of India dated November 18, 2021, the Commission said that the objective of these regulations is to root out ragging in all its forms from medical colleges and institutions in the country, by prohibiting it under these regulations, preventing its occurrence, and instituting punitive measures against those who indulge in ragging as provided for in these regulations and in accordance with prevailing and applicable laws in force.
