NEET 2021 to be Conducted on August 1 Unless Unavoidable Circumstances: Officials
NTA, the conducting body of NEET 2021 has mentioned that the exam will be conducted as per schedule, on August 1. Amid the rising confusion among NEET aspirants regarding the exam schedule and notification, there is a slight headway in terms of the NEET 2021 exam date. The Ministry of Education is slated to conduct a review meeting to decide the status of JEE Main and NEET 2021 on June 7. Earlier, officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting authority, has stated that NEET 2021 will be conducted on August 1, as per the original schedule unless there is an unavoidable circumstance. In that case, candidates will be notified well in advance.
As per the response to an RTI filed for NTA inquiring about the NEET 2021 exam and application schedule, NTA stated on June 3, “As per the public notice dated 12.3.2021, the NEET (UG) 2021 Examination stands to be conducted on 1 August 2021 as on date. If the exam is required to be postponed due to unavoidable circumstances, the same would be on the website.”
However, the date of releasing the NEET 2021 application form is yet to be decided. Even though NTA had launched the NEET 2021 official website (neet.nta.nic.in). Regarding this, NTA stated, “In view of the ensuing Second Wave of COVID-19 Pandemic, NTA is in the process of consultation with the concerned Ministries for finalising the date to launch the Online Application Form for the NEET (UG) 2021.”
The response added, “The same will be notified at the earliest on the NEET (UG) 2021 website as soon as the date is decided in consultation with concerned Ministries and Organisations.”
Although NTA had recently launched the NEET 2021 on the official website on June 2 stating that the NEET online application forms will be available soon, the content was removed within a day. The website is still vacant. It is expected that the NEET important dates along with the application form will be released soon.
