NEET 2022 exam date postpone demand by students is intensifying ever since the CUET 2022 dates have been announced. But will NTA postpone either of the exam dates? Let’s take a look at the analysis here.

NEET 2022 Date Postpone Request Intensifies with CUET 2022 Dates Announcement

NEET 2022 Date Postpone Request Intensifies with CUET 2022 Dates Announcement

The demand to postpone NEET 2022 has intensified with the announcement of CUET 2022 dates, which is starting on July 15. Although the subject-wise exam dates for CUET have not been announced yet, NEET aspirants have taken to Twitter and other social media platforms to express their disappointment against NTA for scheduling CUET in close proximity to NEET, which is scheduled for July 17.

CUET exam dates announcement has triggered student demands further and added to the reason justifying their request to NTA and Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan to defer the NEET 2022 exam. Along with the existing hashtags, a new one which is trending is #MODIJIextendNEETUG.

Student Reactions on NEET 2022 and CUET 2022 Dates

Some of the students have tweeted, β€œOver 18 lakh candidates are demanding the postponement of #NEETUG2022 scheduled for July 17. Here's why: 1. Delayed #NEETUG2021 counseling, which concluded in March 2022. 2. Proximity with #CUETUG2022 (Jul 15-16, Jul 19-20) and #JEEMain2022 (July 21-30).”

Another Tweet says:

On the other hand, some students are demanding to know the exact subject-wise CUET dates. Requesting the same to UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar, a student has tweeted, β€œSir please provide datesheet as per courses ... Actually I have only 4 subjects for cuet exams then how can I expect that my exam should be in the month of July or August Kindly help us …”

An aspirant appearing for both the exams has tweeted, β€œSir why exams are scheduled in this hectic way Sir neet is on 17th and cuet is starting form 15 how can a student manage this stress, there are things which student need to revise before exams if he/she is giving cuet on 15,16 the what about neet revision.”

Will NTA Postpone NEET 2022 to Avoid Clash With CUET 2022?

Despite massive requests from students NTA has not given an assurance to postpone NEET 2022 or CUET 2022. As per a recent response to an RTI request, the exam authority has stated that NEET 2022 will be conducted as per schedule. The response states, "The NEET (UG) 2022 Examination stands (as on date) to be conducted on 17 July 2022, keeping in view the academic interest of millions of students who have filled up application form for this exam." Notably, around 18 lakh candidates have applied for NEET 2022 and around 10 lakh candidates have applied for CUET 2022.

Since NTA is the conducting authority for both NEET and CUET, it will schedule the Science subject exams, especially for the Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) group exams with a prominent gap to avoid inconvenience for candidates. The subject-wise timetable for CUET is expected to be announced soon.

NEET 2022 will be conducted on a massive scale (across 543 Indian and 13 international cities) which will incur a huge amount of logistics and operational expenditure. With less than a month left for the exam, it is unlikely that NTA would change the exam date and undergo the effort all over again.

Based on the above points, it is highly unlikely that the NEET 2022 exam date will be postponed. Hence, it is advised to candidates that they do not pay heed to the exam date deferment, but focus on their preparation instead.
