NEET 2024: Opposition to Move Adjournment Motions Over Paper Leak Controversy Today

INDIA Bloc to move adjournment motion over NEET UG 2024 controversy under Rule 267, along with raising several other issues such as unemployment in the Parliament. 

NEET 2024 Controversy

NEET 2024 Controversy: The inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha session to have INDIA Bloc deciding to move adjournment motions over the NEET controversy. In the latest turn of events, the INDIA Bloc will move the motions under Rule 267. The decision was made during the INDIA bloc meeting held at Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Thursday, as reported by Hindustan Times. 

The INDIA bloc raised that the NEET issue is of paramount importance and shall be taken up separately. The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) may push adjournment motions to set aside the prescheduled debate on President Murmu's speech in both Houses of Parliament.  

Meanwhile, Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan notified suspension of the Business Notice under rule 267 in Rajya Sabha in order to discuss the NEET 2024 paper leak controversy, as reported by the Deccan Herald.

"I hereby give notice under Rule 267 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) of my intention to move the following motion for the suspension of business listed for June 28, 2024, that this house does suspend all listed business of the day to discuss the unprecedented cased of paper leaks in the conduct of exams including NEET UG, UGC NET and the failure of National Testing Agency (NTA)." The official statement stated. 

Meanwhile President Murmu, on Thursday, while addressing the joint sitting of Parliament discussed several areas of attention including the NEET 2024 controversy and the irregularities in the national-level entrance exams. She further said that the opposition must rise above politics to arrive at a solution for paper leaks.
