The Supreme Court hearing on NEET 2024 paper leak and other issues has been deferred to July 18, 2024. The apex court was slated to hear multiple petitions on NEET 2024 along and give the verdict on conduct of Re-NEET 2024 today, July 11, 2024. The case is being heard by a bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud.

The deferment has been announced as the Supreme Court bench observed that some parties had not yet received the affidavits filed by the Centre and NTA. They stressed the need for these parties to carefully consider the responses before proceeding with arguments.

In an additional affidavit submitted by the Centre on Wednesday, July 10, it was stated that IIT Madras conducted comprehensive data analytics of the results of NEET-UG 2024 candidates. However, no mass malpractice was indicated.

The Centre also stated that there was no evidence of widespread cheating or specific groups of candidates unfairly benefiting from abnormal scores in NEET 2024.

It has also been indicated that the NEET 2024 counselling process will begin in the third week of July 2024. In an earlier affidavit submitted by the NTA, it was stated that multiple toppers was due to the revision of the NEET 2024 syllabus, and not due to paper leak. However, the Supreme Court stated that there is indeed a breach in the sanctity of the conduct of the NEET 2024 exam.

Meanwhile, the CBI has arrested 11 people so far in connection with the NEET 2024 paper leak case.
