The Supreme Court of India has ordered that there should not be any delay in the NEET 2024 counselling or admission process. Hence, it is unlikely that the NEET 2024 counselling process will be delayed.

According to NTA, the NEET 2024 counselling process is likely to begin, or the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the dates on July 6, 2024.

NTA has declared the NEET 2024 re-exam result and revised scorecards for all candidates at the official website, www.exams.nta.ac.in/NEET. They will have to log in to download it.

According to NTA, the five candidates who had secured 720 with grace marks, have scored above 680. 

NTA sources have stated that five out of six NEET 2024 toppers appeared for the NEET 2024 re-examination. However, they have not scored 720. Hence, as per the NEET 2024 revised merit list, the total number of toppers is 61. 

As per reports, the NEET 2024 re-examination result will be out in a couple of hours. 

NEET 2024 result was declared on June 4, 2024, 10 days ahead of the slated date, which was June 14, 2024. The date of the NEET 2024 re-exam result is June 30, 2024.

As of now, it is difficult to say whether the NEET 2024 re-exam result will be delayed or not. It is expected that the result of NEET 2024 retest will be out by late night.

Here are the broad areas why the NEET 2024 result controversy sparked:

• 67 candidates scoring perfect 720
• Students getting marks like 718 or 719 which is not possible as per the NEET marking scheme
• Release of result 10 days in advance, especially on the day of the Lok Sabha Election Results
• Allegations of NEET 2024 question paper which were raised earlier
• Multiple NEET 2024 toppers belonging to a particular exam centre.

As many as 67 candidates scored a perfect 720 marks in the NEET 2024 exam. Incidentally, six out of these 67 toppers were given grace marks.

According to NTA, the grace marks stand cancelled. Hence, candidates who did not appear for the NEET 2024 re-exam, will be given the original score obtained by them, after deducting the grace marks.

Based on the writ petitions received from 1,563 candidates, NTA decided to award them grace marks due to loss of time at the exam centre on May 5, 2024. However, due to the ambiguity in the process, the Supreme Court of India cancelled the grace marks. Hence, NTA announced the conduct of retest on June 23, 2024. Candidates' previous scores have been cancelled and the scores obtained in the retest will considered final.

The NEET score is the actual mark obtained by a candidate in the NEET exam. It is a raw score that reflects the number of correct answers a candidate has attempted. The NEET score is used to determine the qualifying status of a candidate for admission to medical and dental colleges. On the other hand, NEET percentile indicates the candidate's performance relative to other examinees. It is a measure of how many candidates have scored equal to or below the candidate's score in the exam. The percentile score is calculated by dividing the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam into 100 equal groups, with each group representing a percentile.

For example, if a candidate scores 600 out of 720 in NEET, their percentile score would be around 90, indicating that they have scored higher than 90 per cent of the total candidates who appeared for the exam.

In summary, the NEET score reflects the actual mark obtained, while the percentile score reflects the candidate's relative performance compared to others. Both scores are important, and they serve different purposes in the admission process.

NEET scorecard is an individual document which carries information regarding candidates' obtained scores, percentiles and ranks. On the other hand, merit list is a common document which consists of the list of test takers along with their scores and ranks. Both the documents are prepared by NTA the exam conducting body. The NEET scorecard is issued only to candidates who can download it by logging in through their registration credentials and nobody else can access it. NEET merit list, on the other hand, is released publicly and includes the All India Rank list of candidates along with their obtained scores, percentiles and state.

Yes, it is likely that NTA will release a revised merit list for NEET 2024, based on the re-exam result.

Hence, the merit position will change unless these six candidates appear for the NEET 2024 retest and secure full marks. And if some, but not all of them maintain their score, then also the merit position of all candidates will change.
