Aspirants of NEET MDS 2021 have filed a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the delay in the counselling process by the Medical Counselling Committee(MCC). Calling the delay “unjust and infinite”, the petition has sought directions to the MCC to release the counselling date at the earliest.
NBE had conducted NEET MDS 2021 exam on December 16, 2020. The exam is conducted to provide admission to the Masters in Dental Surgery programmes across the country. NEET MDS results were declared on December 31, 2020. Since then candidates have been waiting for the commencement of the counselling process for NEET MDS 2021.
The petition which has filed through Advocates Tanvi Dubey and Charu Mathur has appealed to the court to ask MCC to conduct counselling in a maximum of three weeks. It has raised concerns about conducting counselling together for NEET PG 2021 and NEET MDS.
Petitioners have requested the court to ask MCC to conduct separate counselling for NEET MDS 2021 and it shouldn’t be conducted with NEET PG 2021 for which entrance exam has yet to be held.
"From the past years records, it is clear that the time duration between the NEET-PG examination and announcement of result is at least one (1) month. Further, the counselling schedule for NEET-PG is released three (3) months after the results. Therefore, it will be unrealistic to organise the counselling for both the examinations together, as it would infinitely delay the counselling for the NEET-MDS candidates and would cause undue hardship to the NEET-MDS aspirants," the plea was quoted as saying.
