The doctors association FORDA has said that now after NEET PG 2023 results have been declared, it is about time that the health ministry stands true to its intent and begins NEET PG 2023 counselling early to bring back the academic calendar on track. NEET PG 2023 was held on March 5, 2023, and the result was declared on March 14, 2023.

NEET PG 2023: FORDA demands early counselling

Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written a letter to union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and urged him for an early NEET PG 2023 counselling. They said that after the NEET PG 2023 results have been announced, the NEET PG 2023 counselling must commence early to bring back the academic calendar on track, as said by the union health minister while denying to postpone NEET PG 2023.

"Recently, in a parliamentary session, you addressed the consistent efforts of your office to bring back the academic calendar on track by conducting the NEET PG 2023 exam on March 5, 2023. While the fundamental idea is appreciable, there was a huge unrest in the NEET PG aspirant community regarding the long gap between the exam and the possible start of counselling, which could only begin after the last date of completion.e., 11th August 2023," reads FORDA's letter.

The letter highlighted that the declaration of the NEET PG 2023 results is the first of many steps taken in the right direction.

"We respectfully suggest the following: Conduct the first counselling for NEET PG 2023 at least a month before the last date of eligibility in August (we suggest in the first/second week of July)," the letter added.

The background of demand for early NEET PG 2023 counselling

Last year and this year too, there was a huge demand to postpone NEET PG 2023 exam to reduce the long gap between the exam date and the NEET PG counselling. However, the government said that they cannot delay the exam as the intention is to bring back the academic cycle on track. Despite multiple protests and demands by the NEET PG 2023 aspirants, the government conducted the exam on the decided date without any deferment.
