NEET result 2023: 70% of students in coveted medical schools will be from 9 states

As per the report, more than 70% of students joining the MBBS course in top medical colleges this year will be from nine states. Seats are filled under two categories in government medical colleges — 15% under AIQ (All India Quota) for those domiciled outside the state and the rest under state quota.

As per the TOI report, 65% of candidates who scored 400 and above are from eight states — Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, UP and West Bengal. In the 620 and above marks range, Delhi replaces Bihar in the top eight. 

NEET UG 2023 result was announced on June 13, 2023, a total of 11,45,976 candidates have qualified for the examination out of a total of 20,38,596 candidates who appeared in the exam that was held on May 7, 2023.

The total number of candidates who have scored 400 and above is 2.3 lakh, while the number of candidates with NEET scores between 500-619 is over 45,000. There are 18,757 aspirants who scored 620 and above (out of 720) in NEET UG 2023.

There are 1,04,333 MBBS seats available (54,278 in government medical colleges) and 27,868 for BDS this year. Apart from this, there are 52,720 seats in Ayush programmes and 603 BVSc (Bachelor of veterinary science) and animal husbandry seats. Admissions for bachelor courses in homoeopathic and Unani medicines are also based on NEET-UG 2023 scores.

After the NEET result 2023 is declared, candidates are expecting the Medical Counselling Committee to release the NEET-UG 2023 counselling schedule soon.
