NEET Result 2023: Tamil Nadu produces AIR 1, achieves highest-ever tally in Top 50 rankers

Tamil Nadu government is trying their best to eliminate the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2023 from the state as the government opines that the exam favours affluent candidates. However, this year, the state's performance is really noteworthy. The topper AIR Prabanjan J is from Tamil Nadu and also the state has the third-highest number of achievers, a stark contrast from five years ago when the state had no representation in the toppers league.

As per records, in 2019 and 2021, the state did not have any representation among the top 50 ranks. However, last year, two candidates from Tamil Nadu made it to this elite league, and this year, with six candidates in the top ranks, it marks the state’s highest tally ever.

National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the NEET result 2023 on June 13, 2023, UP recorded the highest number of qualifying candidates whereas Maharashtra had the large number of candidates appearing for the exam which was held on May 7, 2023, and for Manipur's candidates, the exam was held on June 6, 2023.

Tamil Nadu health minister Ma Subramanian has also opposed the proposed common counselling for admission to medical undergraduate courses. Moreover, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has opposed the upcoming NExT exam.

Earlier, the state government also alleged that the NEET exam is putting so much pressure on the candidates from rural areas, that many students commit suicide. In the last few years, many such incidents were reported in the state.
