NEET SS 2024 Exam May Not Be Held This Year: NMC

NMC shared the minutes of meeting with the social and political activist Dr Vivek Pandey stating that NEET SS 2024 may be cancelled as the MD/MS and DNB admission in academic year 2021 were only held from January to May 2022.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Super Speciality courses (NEET SS) may not be conducted this year as per the minutes of meeting from the National Medical Commission's (NMC's) latest conference. 

NMC shared the minutes of meeting with the social and political activist Dr Vivek Pandey stating that NEET SS 2024 may be cancelled as the MD/MS and DNB admission in academic year 2021 were only held from January to May 2022. 

NEET SS Counselling Dates 2025 Will Be Decided Later

 "Regarding NEET SS-2024, it was decided that as admissions for academic year 2021 for MD/MS and DNB courses were held only a January to May 2022, therefore, NEET SS-2024 may not be conducted in the current year. However, the exact date of counselling NEET SS- 2024 in the year 2025 will be decided later." States the minutes of meeting. 

NMC Replied to RTI by Dr Vivek Pandey

NMC’s meeting was held on February 21, 2024, under the chairmanship of Dr Vijay Oza, President of PGMEB regarding the examination and counselling schedule for NEET PG 2024 and the pattern of examination for NEET SS. To which, NMC replied to a Right of Information (RTI) request by Dr Vivek Pandey stating that NEET SS 2024 may be cancelled this year. As reported by Medical Dialogues. 

"Dr. Vijay Oza informed that a number of representations have been received for change in the examination pattern for DM Critical Care Medicine. It has been requested that questions in the exam should be on critical care medicine instead of General Medicine. Professor M. Bajpai informed that after the change in the examination pattern of NEET PG SS, a number of seats in Critical Care Medicine remain vacant as candidates with MS(Anesthesiology) are not able to score the required mark to be eligible for a seat in D.M (Critical care medicine) and also they feel that they are at disadvantage due to change in the exam pattern." The MoM further added.
