NEET UG 2024 Question Paper Leak Suspected in Patna: Four Detained, FIR Registered
The NEET UG 2024 examination, conducted by the NTA across 571 centers in India and abroad, faced scrutiny after reports of a possible paper leak surfaced.
The Patna Police has sprung into action following intelligence from central agencies regarding a potential breach in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate 2024 held on Sunday. An FIR has been lodged at Shastri Nagar police station, and four individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the alleged leak of the NEET UG question paper.
SSP Rajiv Mishra disclosed that the police received confidential information prompting the registration of the FIR and subsequent interrogation of suspects. Raids have been conducted in various areas, including Danapur, Ramakrishna Nagar, and Boring Canal Road, leading to the detainment of several individuals.
Sources suggest that information from a central agency unit in Ranchi, Jharkhand, flagged the names of potential fraudsters involved in the alleged leak. Subsequent investigations led to the detention of individuals like Raki from Danapur, whose electronic devices were confiscated for further scrutiny.
The method of transmission of the leaked question papers remains unclear, with authorities yet to confirm whether scanned copies were circulated. Meanwhile, a peculiar incident unfolded in Sheikhpura, where candidates experienced an unexpected change in their OMR sheets and question papers during the examination, allegedly on orders from higher authorities.
While social media buzzed with allegations of a NEET question paper leak, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has denied these claims. Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra affirmed the initiation of an investigation, with some individuals detained for interrogation, though no formal arrests have been made yet.
