MCC Advisory on NEET 2021 Counselling

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has issued an advisory for candidates for NRI category choice filling and changing categories. As the NEET counselling 2021 choice filling procedure has started on January 20, a number of candidates are facing difficulty in terms of selecting the institute of their choice, based on which the advisory has been issued on January 21. The advisory also answers queries of those candidates who have converted their category from reserved to UR and now want to reverse it.

According to MCC, NRI candidates who want to opt for a seat in Deemed Universities/ AIIMS/ JIPMER/ AMU have to select ‘Deemed Universities’ in 'type of counselling' and pay the requisite fee of Deemed Universities to be able to apply for NRI seats of Deemed Universities/ AIIMS/ JIPMER & AMU.

Candidates who have not paid the requisite fee and wish to apply for NRI seats have to ‘RESET’ their registration and then apply for Deemed Universities by paying the requisite fee. The ‘RESET’ facility will be provided to candidates after 6 pm on January 21 till January 24, 11 am. “Candidates should note that the ‘RESET’ option is a one-time option. Hence, candidates are advised to utilise it judiciously,” MCC has stated.

The next advisory is for those candidates who have converted their category from reserved category to unreserved (UR) category and now want to reverse their category to the previous one. For them, MCC has mentioned that the change in category is a one-time facility and cannot be reversed. “Change of category is a one-time option and once a category is changed to ‘UR’ it will remain the same for the remaining rounds of counselling. The category once changed cannot be reverted back even after using the ‘RESET’ option. The RESET option can be used only to change the type of counselling i.e add or delete different types of counselling and not to change the category,” the notice mentions.

In an earlier notice, MCC had stated that the choice filling process for the NEET UG counselling 2021 was kept on hold from 4.30 pm to 6 pm as the seat matrix released earlier is undergoing additions. MCC will soon release a revised seat matrix which will include the seats of AIIMS Madurai and CW seats for VMMC and ABVIMS, New Delhi.
