NEET UG Counselling 2023: Candidates can upgrade college choices till round 3

As per the revised policy, the candidates can upgrade colleges till the third or mop-up round of NEET UG Counselling 2023 with a condition.

The Centre's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reportedly allowed students to upgrade their college choices until the third round of the counselling process. It is expected to benefit medical aspirants nationwide.

Till now, the upgradation of choices was allowed only until the second round of NEET UG Counselling. The students had no option to explore better colleges in the third round.

As per the TOI report, the revised policy allows the students to upgrade to college till the third round (NEET UG Counselling 2023 mop-up round) but with a condition. If students do not join the seats allotted to them in either the second or third round, they will forfeit their refundable deposit amount which is INR 10,000 for all India quota seats and central institutions, and INR 2 lakh for deemed universities.

As per the official of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the withdrawal of the previous policy is to offer students the opportunity to participate in the NEET UG counselling third round and secure a seat of their preference without merit-based compromises.

NEET UG Counselling Registration starts today

MCC started the NEET UG counselling registration today, July 20, 2023, and the last date to apply for the counselling process is July 25, 2023. To register for the NEET UG Counselling 2023 round 1, the candidates need to go to the official website of MCC – mcc.nic.in, click on the ‘New Registration Round 1’ tab, select the ‘New Candidate Registration’ tab, read the instructions and click on 'I Agree' check box, enter the details including NEET UG roll number, NEET UG application number, mother’s name, date of birth and security pin and click on 'Submit'. Using the generated credentials the candidates must complete the registration form by entering personal, educational, NEET 2023 results and other details and uploading of scanned photograph and signature. Pay the registration fee and take a printout of the registration confirmation page.
