NEET UG Paper Leak Case: CBI Arrests Two More Persons in Bihar Owing To Involvement in Malpractice
CBI has arrested eight persons in Bihar so far related to NEET UG paper leak case along with one person each from Dehradun, Godhra and Latur on the grounds of impersonation of candidates and cheating in the exam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two more persons in Patna in connection with the NEET UG 2024 paper leak case. Reportedly, one was identified as Sunny Kumar, a NEET UG 2024 candidate from Nalanda, while the other was Ranjit Kumar, the father of another candidate from Gaya.
So far, the CBI has arrested eight persons in Bihar owing to the NEET UG paper leak case while one person each in connection with alleged manipulation and impersonation in the NEET UG exam has been arrested in Latur, Godhra and Dehradun, as reported by Hindustan Times.
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) on May 5 for admission in MBBS, BDS and AYUSH programmes in government and private institutes across India. Approximately 24 Lakh candidates who appeared for the national-level entrance examination were aggrieved by the paper leak controversy right after the examination was concluded. In the meantime, the Central government urged the CBI to investigate the matter following widespread allegations and malpractice.
Sanctity of NEET Exam Compromised: Supreme Court
The Apex Court, on Monday, instructed NTA and Central Government to submit affidavits and asked CBI to submit a status report by July 10 regarding the NEET UG paper leak controversy. The Apex Court further said that the sanctity of the exam has been compromised and it is beyond doubt. Besides, the Supreme Court has directed NTA to outline measures taken to identify beneficiaries of the leak.
