The five new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh will be situated in Pulivendula, Markapuram, Adoni, Paderu and Madanapalle with 150 MBBS seats in each medical college. Andhra Pradesh CM has given a green signal to this project with an approximate cost of INR 8,500 crore.

New Medical College in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government will launch five new medical colleges in order to boost medical education in the state. The authorities will offer admission to 750 MBBS seats in the state of Andhra Pradesh from the academic year 2024-25. 

The five new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh will be situated in Pulivendula, Markapuram, Adoni, Paderu and Madanapalle with 150 MBBS seats in each medical college. The authorities have submitted their proposal to begin new medical colleges in front of the National Medical Commission (NMC), as reported by TOI. 

AP Government's Prospective Plan

The Andhra Pradesh government have planned to commence 17 government medical colleges within a period of three years. In the academic year 2023-24, the state government has established five medical colleges in five areas namely Vijayanagaram, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Rajahmundry, and Nandyal. Further, the government is planning to start seven more medical colleges in the academic year 2025-26.  

“We are progressing with a clear agenda and timelines. We will get five more colleges during the upcoming academic year and another seven colleges from 2025-26 academic year," a senior official told TOI.

Andhra Pradesh CM, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy planned to start 17 medical colleges under the government's jurisdiction to improve medical education in the state. The CM further has given a green signal to the blueprint of this project with an approximate cost of INR 8,500 crore for the new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh. 

Moreover, the Uttar Pradesh government has planned to start 14 new medical colleges to boost medical education in the state. Reportedly, 1400 MBBS seats for the year 2024-25 are being planned in the Kanpur Dehat, Kaushambi, and Lalitpur areas, to name a few.
