NExT Exam: AIIMS likely to conduct the exam in second half of 2023

National Medical Commission has announced that NExT exam will be held most likely in the second half of 2023. The exam will be held by AIIMS, New Delhi. AIIMS will be releasing detailed schedule including eligibility criteria, pattern and other crucial details for National Exit Test shortly on its official website.

NExT Exam to be held in second half of 2023

National Exit Test (NexT) will be held most likely in the second half of 2023, reports say. NExT exam will be conducted by AIIMS Delhi. Earlier reports said guidelines for NExT is at the end stage of finalization and Health Ministry will be presenting the guidelines to National Medical Commission (NMC) for final review. AIIMS will be releasing an official information brochure comprising important dates and details regarding eligibility criteria, application process, exam pattern, and marking scheme on its official website.

A doctor named Rohan Krishnan has also shared NMC’s official notification, requesting it to provide more clarity regarding eligibility criteria and pattern. He also asked what will happen to those who have already appeared in NEET PG exam recently.

“This is a true notice as per our sources. Requesting NMC_IND, MoHFW_INDIA to clarify everything about the NEXT exam, including eligibility, pattern, and what abt those candidates who have already given NEET PG & would re appear. Any sudden abrupt changes will nt b tolerated!,” Krishnan tweeted.

 

NexT will be replacing NEET PG, FMGE exams

NExT exam or National Exit Test will be conducted for providing admission to post graduate courses. It is a licentiate exam mandatory for undergraduate medical students to practice in India. Candidates who qualified MBBS from India or abroad will have to clear the exam to register with the Medical Council of India. It will be replacing existing NEET PG and FMGE exams from 2024 onwards.

The exam will be held in two steps, Step 1 and Step 2. According to an official release, Step 1 will be a theory-based exam while Step 2 will check the practical knowledge of candidates seeking admission in post-graduate medical courses. NExT exam MBBS will be conducted most likely by National Medical Commission (NMC). NMC NExT exam will be a single gateway to get license and practice medicine in India.
