Amid the nationwide protest against the National Exit Test, National Medical Commission has postponed the exam till further order.

Earlier, it was planned to conduct National Exit Test for the 2019 batch, and there was a nationwide protest going on against the exam. Now, National Medical Commission (NMC) has postponed it to the further notice.

"All the stakeholders are hereby informed that the National Exit Test (NExT) examination is deferred on the advice of the Ministry dated July 11, 2023, till further directions from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare," reads the official notification of NMC.

"NEXT deferred till further order. I once again thank @PMOIndia and @mansukhmandviya Sir for this. IMGs are not ready for NEXT at the moment. I think we need to make a lot of changes in the proposed NEXT exam. All the best to students for NEET PG AND FINAL MBBS," reads a tweet by Dr Rohan Krishnan, National Chairman of Federation of All India Medical Association.

"#AIMSA will run All Over India movement against #NEXT! #AIMSA requests to Union Health Minister that we don't want #NEXT exam for any Batch of MBBS," tweeted AIMSA.

"Breaking: #next #NextExam is deferred till further orders Thanks @MoHFW_INDIA @mansukhmandviya @NMC_IND for relieving students stress. Hoping for the best!!!," says a tweet by Dr Rakesh Bagdi Gurjar, Ex President of FAIMA.

Earlier, government was planning to conduct NExT exam for 2019 MBBS batch but later the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the exam will not be held for 2019 batch but it will be valid fo 2020 batch. The exam is expected to be conducted by AIIMS Delhi and it will be for the purpose to get license and practice medicine in India.
