NIMHANS, Dementia India Alliance sign MoU; Know Details
The collaboration is aimed at improving the overall quality of life of persons with dementia and their family caregivers through various modalities.
National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dementia India Alliance (DIA), a non-profit family carer-centred national organisation. The agreement was inked by the NIMHANS director Pratima Murthy and DIA president Radha S. Murthy.
The aim is to improve the overall quality of life of persons with dementia and their family caregivers through various modalities.
NIMHANS said on X, "NIMHANS and Dementia India Alliance have joined hands by signing an MOU. This marks our formal commitment to jointly address the critical issue of dementia in India. We aspire to make meaningful strides in advancing research, support & understanding for those affected by dementia"
"Nimhans and DIA will conduct joint research projects to develop evidence-based best practices in dementia care, including research on the identification, prevention, and management of dementia,” stated the medical institute.
DIA and NIMHANS will actively collaborate to promote the cause of dementia through various services and activities, including support groups, information dissemination, advocacy, research initiatives, education programs, conferences, and other events, added the statement, as reported by The Hindu.
Dementia India Alliance (DIA) is a non-profit family carer-centered national organization established under the Societies Act, with a primary focus on supporting family caregivers and fostering a dementia-inclusive society.
"Our mission revolves around connecting, inspiring, and empowering individuals, organizations, and government bodies to enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia and their families. DIA stands at the forefront of the fight against dementia, aiming to improve the overall well-being of affected individuals through compassionate care and support," says DIA.
