Colleges have received directions to comply with the ‘Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Medical Colleges and Institutions, regulations 2021’. The letter addressed to all colleges was issued after the NMC observed that some colleges did not respond to the complaints forwarded to them.
The notice released by NMC stated that, “The report for the period ending March 31 should include all the complaints received after the UG, PG admission of 2021 and 2022 batch.”
There is a designated module/ portal on the NMC official website, nmc.org.in, for lodging complaints by the medical students. The NMC used to forward the complaints received to the respective college. However, it was noted that the medical colleges did not respond to the complaints in time. Therefore, all colleges are requested to promptly attend the complaints forwarded to them and send compliance reports immediately. It further warned the medical colleges that serious action will be taken if not responded to complaints on time.
As per the regulations, medical students and their guardians will have to mandatorily submit an undertaking at the time of admission assuring that they will not involve in ragging.
