NMC Issues Advisory for Students Seeking Admission to Foreign Medical Colleges

The commission urged that students willing to obtain a medical qualification from any foreign medical institute shall ensure that all conditions specified in FMGL are adhered to before commencing allopathy practice in India.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued guidelines for medical aspirants willing to get admission to foreign universities. The commission has warned students to not apply for admission to foreign private medical colleges that do not adhere to the regulations laid by the National Medical Commission. Besides, the authorities have also warned students to not take admission to medical institutes that are not in consonance with NMC regulations being followed in India. 

Further, the authorities have notified that students are required to adhere to the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiates (FMGL) regulations that comprise terms of duration of the study, medium of instructions, syllabus, clinical training or internship/ clerkship etc. Each student is required to follow these guidelines that are mandatory for registration to practice allopathy in India.

The authorities have notified that the students seeking allopathy practice in India have to follow the FMGL guidelines.  

"In view of the above, all the students who are desirous to obtain the medical qualification from any foreign medical institutions or universities and thereafter practice allopathy in India, are hereby again advised to ensure that all conditions prescribed in FMGL are U-14021/01/2024-UGMEB I/3724211/2024 fulfilled before taking admission." Reads the official notification. 

In continuation, the authorities have mentioned that any change in the duration, syllabus, clinical training or internship/ clerkship may lead to disqualification in the grant of registration in India and the sole responsibility of aforesaid disqualification will be the responsibility of the candidate.
