NMC seeks stakeholders' comments on draft regulations related to NExT
NMC has issued a public notice to invite comments of various stakeholders on the proposed draft regulations related to the National Exit Test (NExT) as prescribed in the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, 2019 - reg.
National Medical Commission (NMC) has sought the comments of stakeholders on the proposed draft regulations related to the National Exit Test (NExT).
Section 15 read with Section 57 of the NMC Act, 2019 prescribes a National Exit Test (NExT) for medical graduates. A draft regulation in this regard has been shared for public comment.
"It is requested to share comments on the draft regulations at the following email ID - comments.regulations@nmc.org.in in MS Word (.docx) format or machine-readable PDF format within 30 days of publication of this notice with a subject tagline 'Comments on draft regulations regarding National Exit Test (NExT)'," reads the NMC's notification.

These regulations shall be called the "National Medical Commission National Exit Test Regulations, 2022" and they shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. The objective of these regulations is to bring uniformity in the summative evaluation across the country with reference to the minimum common standards of education and training of a medical graduate.
As per the draft regulations, NExT will be applicable to all undergraduate medical students pursuing the degree of MBBS in all medical colleges as approved by the NMC through the Medical Assessment and Rating Board as well as the Undergraduate Medical Education Board, and to all Foreign Medical Graduates approved by the NMC for the purpose of obtaining a licence to practice medicine as a registered medical practitioner in India and for enrolment in the State Register or the National Register, as the case may be in such manner as may be specified by regulations. Also, to any other person with a medical degree for the purpose such as pursuing an academic course, observership or any other purposes as may be specified and approved by the NMC through due notification or regulations from time to time.
