NTA Denies Allegation on Sending Torn NEET 2024 OMR Sheet to Candidate

NEET 2024 result controversy took a new turn when in a viral video, a NEET 2024 candidate from Lucknow, Ayushi Patel was seen saying that her result was not generated. When she contacted NTA, she received a response that her NEET 2024 OMR sheet was torn, hence, her result could not be computed.

On requesting to see her NEET OMR sheet, NTA mailed her the OMR sheet which was torn, but the answer options were visible for all questions. According to the candidate, she scored 715, the same as her calculation from the NEET 2024 answer keys.

NTA took to social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) to respond to this allegation. NTA stated, “Regarding the viral video featuring Ms. Ayushi Patel, claiming discrepancies in NEET (UG) 2024 scoring and receiving of the torn OMR answer sheet, NTA clarifies that no torn OMR answer sheet was sent via an official NTA ID. OMR answer sheet is intact and scores are accurate as per official records. Candidate should download scorecards only from the website, www.exams.nta.ac.in/NEET.”

Ayushi Patel has filed a petition in the court and the hearing is due on June 11, 2024. The video has been widely circulated across social media platform and Indian National Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also shared her post.

What is the NEET 2024 Controversy?

NEET 2024 result was declared on June 4, 2024, 10 days ahead of the schedule. Various anomalies and irregularities were pointed out regarding the scores which led to several questions towards NTA. This included 67 candidates scoring the full marks, eight of them from the same exam centre, and giving grace marks to several candidates.

NTA provided clarifications towards the questions raised and has also set up a grievance redressal committee to address all the concerns. However, NTA has indicated that there will not be any retest conducted for over 23 lakh candidates and the NEET 2024 counselling or admission schedule will not be hampered.
