OBC reservation implementation for medical seats to resolve on top priority: PM Modi
Prime Minister Modi has said that the OBC reservation in All India Quota (AIQ) for medical seats in state government's colleges will be resolved on top priority and out of court by the ministries involved.
PM Modi has conveyed this to Ministers for Education and Health Dharmendra Pradhan and Mansukh Mandaviya and secretaries of their Ministries as well as senior officers of the Ministries of Law and Social Justice.
OBC reservation implementation's decision at a 'very advanced stage': Govt
The central government has informed the Madras high court that their decision on implementing the OBC reservation for medical admissions under AIQ in state government colleges is at a 'very advanced stage'.
The Madras high court had said earlier that not implementing the OBC reservation for medical admissions in state government colleges is not a choice of the central government and had asked the government to explain how they are implementing the 50% reservations. The court had clearly said that MBBS admission in the state can not be done without implementing the OBC reservation.
Solicitor-general Tushar Mehta made the submission before the first bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy. He asked for a week's time for the government to report further development and now the government need to inform the court on August 2.
