The PM also inaugurated new medical colleges in Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, and additional healthcare facilities at various AIIMS locations across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched multiple initiatives on Ayurveda Day, totaling over Rs 12,850 crore, with a focus on expanding healthcare access across India. Highlights include the inauguration of three new medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh—Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Seoni—as well as four AYUSH Centres of Excellence to bolster research and innovation in Ayurveda.

The projects also span the launch of U-WIN for digital vaccine tracking, new ESIC hospitals for worker healthcare, and the extension of healthcare infrastructure across several AIIMS.

On Dhanvantari Jayanti and the 9th Ayurveda Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a series of healthcare and medical education initiatives worth approximately ₹12,850 crore. Key projects were launched at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, focusing on expanding medical education, access to affordable healthcare, and the integration of traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern medicine.

Modi inaugurated Phase II of AIIA, which now includes a Panchakarma hospital, Ayurvedic pharmacy, and specialized units for sports medicine and start-up incubation. The Prime Minister highlighted India’s unique position in combining ancient knowledge with modern healthcare, positioning AIIA as a global center for Ayurvedic research and innovation.

As part of his address, Modi underscored five key pillars of India’s healthcare policy: preventive care, early diagnosis, accessible treatment, expansion of medical personnel, and increased use of technology. The PM also inaugurated new medical colleges in Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, and additional healthcare facilities at various AIIMS locations across the country. These projects aim to boost medical education and expand healthcare services, with nearly 1 lakh MBBS and MD seats added in the past decade.

Highlighting the government’s drive for affordability, Modi announced the distribution of Ayushman Vaya Vandana Cards for free hospital care to citizens aged 70 and above. Through initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and PM Jan Aushadhi Kendras, affordable healthcare and medications have saved citizens over ₹30,000 crore.

The Prime Minister also launched digital health initiatives, including the U-WIN portal for tracking vaccinations and the e-Sanjeevani telemedicine platform, which has facilitated over 30 crore online consultations. Further, in line with the Digital Public Infrastructure goals, Modi announced the Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan for customized lifestyle and health assessments through Ayurveda, aiming to promote preventive healthcare and wellness.
