Ahead of the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated various development projects in Gorakhpur worth INR 9600 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled various development projects in Gorakhpur today worth INR 9600 crore. He has dedicated these development projects to the nation, as stated by Press Information Bureau, Government of India through their official Facebook profile.

The projects unveiled by PM Modi include a fertiliser factory, three high-standard laboratories set up by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at the BRD Medical College, and an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has tweeted just now, "Prime Minister @NarendraModi Ji unveiling various development projects in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath official tweet in the morning reads, "The foundation stone of this AIIMS was laid by Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016 and today it will be unveiled by him only. The AIIMS is spread over an area of 112 acres, and it was built at the cost of INR 1,011 crores. This AIIMS will provide superior health care services to the people of UP, Bihar and Nepal."

Other tweets of PM Narendra Modi on December 6 read:

"Tomorrow, 7th December is a special day for the development trajectory of Uttar Pradesh, especially Purvanchal. At a programme in Gorakhpur, projects worth Rs. 9600 crore would be dedicated to the nation."

"It makes me very happy that the Gorakhpur Fertiliser Plant will be revived after remaining shut for over 30 years. This plant is important in order to become Aatmanirbhar in urea production. Will also dedicate to the nation the AIIMS Gorakhpur, which will strengthen health infra."

PMO (Prime Minister's Office) notification said the following on the three mega-projects inaugurated today in Gorakhpur:

  • About the fertilizer plant: "The Gorakhpur Plant will make available 12.7 LMT per annum indigenous neem coated Urea production. It will help prove to be of immense benefit for the farmers of Purvanchal region and adjoining areas by meeting their demand for Urea fertilizer. It will also boost the overall economic growth of the region."
  • AIIMS, Gorakhpur: "It has been established under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna, through which institutes are being set up as per the vision of the Prime Minister to correct regional imbalances in availability of quality tertiary level healthcare. The facilities at AIIMS, Gorakhpur include a 750 bed hospital, Medical college, Nursing college, AYUSH Building, residential accommodation for all staff, hostel accommodation for UG and PG students etc."
  • ICMR laboratories: "The new building with state-of-the-art facilities will open new horizons of research in areas of Communicable and Non-Communicable diseases as well as help in capacity building and provide support to other medicine institutes of the region."
