President lays foundation stone of first AYUSH medical college in UP

President of India Ram Nath Kovind laid the foundation stone of the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH Vishwavidyalaya at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind has laid the foundation stone for the first AYUSH medical college in Uttar Pradesh (UP). The Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH Vishwavidyalay will be built at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Speaking during the launch, President Kovind said that in the country's battle against the pandemic Covid-19, AYUSH systems of medicine have played a significant role, especially during the second wave of the pandemic outbreak. These medicines helped people in increasing their immunity.

The President also said that our country is the best example of unity in diversity, hence we should not hesitate in accepting and adopting whatever is beneficial, accessible and in the public interest. The different medical systems in India are also the outcome of such thinking. Ayurveda, Siddha, and Yoga are India's contributions to the world.

Many non-conventional and traditional systems of healthcare and healing have been part of our country and the government also made continuous efforts for their development. In 2014, the Ministry of AYUSH was formed for the systematic education and research of these multiple systems of medicine. In 2017, the Government of Uttar Pradesh established the Department of AYUSH. The President is confident that with the establishment of AYUSH University, the AYUSH medical institutes in UP would do better work.
