MBBS in Tamil: Puducherry L-G meets met Union Health Minister Manshukh Mandaviya in Delhi and sought to impart medical education in the Union territory in the Tamil language.
Lt Governor of Puducherry Tamilisai Soundararajan met Union Health Minister Manshukh Mandaviya in Delhi and sought to impart medical education in the Union territory in the Tamil language.
She tweeted, "Thank you Honb'le @MoHFW_INDIA Shri @mansukhmandviya for your positive response on proposed MBBS curriculum in Tamil, Medical University in #Puducherry & various health infra projects. Glad to hear your keen interest on progress of AIIMS Madurai TN & AIIMS Bibinagar Telangana."
She presented a letter to Mandaviya making a case for offering medical education in Tamil in Puducherry through a separate medical college. Soundararajan also sought the Centre’s permission for setting up a medical university in the Union Territory, said a release from the office of Lt Governor, as reported by The Print.
"Lt Governor also explained to Mansukh Mandaviya the various requirements to augment the facilities in government-run hospitals in Puducherry. She also sought the setting up of a ‘de-addiction centre’ in Puducherry," added the release.
Health Minister Ma Subramanian recently said that the state will soon start the medical course in Tamil after the Centre gives nod to open medical colleges in six districts including Perambalur, Mayiladuthurai, Tenkasi, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Kancheepuram.
