Punjab NEET Counselling 2020: 441 MBBS seats stand vacant for second round of counselling
Students must note that to fill these vacant seats, the second phase of counseling will be held and for that, the BFUHS is now inviting applications.
After the first phase of Punjab NEET Counselling 2020 that began on October 26 to fill up 1,425 seats in nine medical colleges, a total of 441 seats were declared vacant. The seats were declared vacant after all medical colleges submitted the list of surrendered seats to the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS). The counseling of Punjab NEET is conducted under the supervision of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
Students must note that to fill these vacant seats, the second phase of counselling will be held and for that the BFUHS is now inviting applications. To participate in the Punjab NEET 2020 counselling, a candidate needs to register online on the official website of BFUHS. Candidates must note that the applications for the counselling of Punjab NEET will be accepted in online mode only. Applications submitted offline or through email will not be accepted.
A large number of medical aspirants have surrendered their seats due to hike in the tuition fee. For the second round, Adesh medical college has offered 111 MBBS seats. The college has total of 150 MBBS seats. In SGRDMC, Amritsar, of 150 MBBS seats, 79 have been declared vacant.
A total number of vacant MBBS seats in Government Medical Colleges (GMCs) at Faridkot, Amritsar and Patiala is 24, 35 and 43, respectively. There are 24 vacant seats in the DMC, Ludhiana, 18 in CMC, Ludhiana, 52 in PIMS, Jalandhar and 55 in Gian Sagar, Banur.
Owing to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year all medical colleges in the state have received fewer NRI candidate's applications for admission. All nine medical colleges in Punjab offer 160 NRI quota MBBS seats, out of which the BFUHS has declared 129 vacant. Candidate must note that only those who has qualified NEET 2020 and is a domicile of Punjab can apply for the state quota seats of Punjab.
It is the DMC, Ludhiana, which has a minimum (5) NRI seats vacant. The number of vacant NRI quota seats in GMCs at Faridkot, Patiala, Amritsar is 19, 13 and 13, respectively. Among the private medical colleges, Gian Sagar, Adesh, PIMS and SGRD have 23, 22, 22 and 12 vacant seats, respectively.
