Punjab to establish Medical college at Malerkotla, Agriculture College at Gurdaspur

Last week on August 6, Punjab Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Mastuana Sahib

The Punjab government will establish a Medical College in Malerkotla district and also establish an Agriculture College in Kalanaur (Gurdaspur). The decision was taken during a meeting of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann with state officials.

As per an announcement from the state government handle, giving a major push to higher education, CM Bhagwant Mann approved the setting up of Medical College at Malerkotla district and Agriculture College in Kalanaur (Gurdaspur).

“CM directed officers to ensure that the work on both these ambitious projects is completed in time bound manner,” reads the tweet from CM’s handle.

Last week on August 6, Punjab Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of Sant Attar Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences at Mastuana Sahib which will come up over an area of 25 acres with an estimated cost of nearly Rs. 345 crores.

CM Mann stated that the college with MBBS seats will emerge Sangrur as a hub of medical education in the entire region. Bhagwant Mann said that apart from the construction of the Academic block the project will include the upgradation of the existing Civil Hospital Sangrur from 220 bedded to 360 bedded, construction of a Nursing School, separate hostels for Senior/Junior Girls and Boys, and other facilities.
