Rajasthan: Resident docs protest against service bond

The resident doctors of Rajasthan wore black ribbons on Sunday to protest against the government's effort to implement a service bond and to make it mandatory for resident doctors passing out of PG medical courses.

The protesting doctors said that the decision is immature and taken in a hurry.

"MBBS government doctors who have done their PG courses should also get equal opportunity to work in government hospitals following the bond conditions,” said an office-bearer of JARD (Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors), as reported by TOI.

JARD wrote to the principal and controller of Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Dr Rajeev Bagarhatta, pointing out that the government is beginning the implementation of its 'bond policy' six months after the doctors passed the examination of PG courses. The letter also added that since the PG doctors were made to sit idle for five months, the state government should compensate by paying them salaries for five months. The doctors have said that they will take extreme steps if their demands will not be fulfilled.
