RDA AIIMS Delhi disagrees with Subharti's financial arrangement to enhance PG research
Swami Vivekanand Subharti University has released that to lighten the financial burden of any research on the patient, now the financial aspect of the research of the PG degree's thesis will be shared among the researcher and the institute. However, the medical community is not pleased with the idea, read here for more details.
Swami Vivekanand Subharti University said that submitting a thesis is the mandatory requirement for the award of a PG degree in the Faculty of Medicine. It has been observed that most of the research is not outcome-based research work and when the researcher starts doing actual research, their subjects (patients) will have to undergo various investigations and the financial burden is put on the patients. Hence, to reduce their financial burden, the university has now decided that the financial aspect will be shared among the researcher and the institute. However, the medical fraternity disagrees with the arrangement.
RDA AIIMS Delhi said that it is unethical and illegal as it will put a financial burden on resident doctors and ultimately decrease the quality of research and patient care. The association has called for intervention by the Centre and NMC.
Dr Rohan Krishnan, National Chairman of FAIMA, tweeted, "The pvt medical colleges of the country has become a den of corruption. Look here not only they are accepting that at present no research work is going on but also commenting how they can loot the money from MD / MS pursuing candidates."
As per the university's official release, the patient will be billed under the category of "Resident name/Department/year" for identification and billing will be done on a credit basis. The patient will not be required to pay for the same.
