A group of Rajasthan University for Health Sciences (RUHS) medicos of the 2019 batch have written to the Vice Chancellor of the university to request for mercy attempt for the first-year MBBS exam.
The students have written that they were given four attempts for the first year examination but many could not clear the examination in the given number of attempts due to the new scheme and many new rules and regulations and also due to Covid Pandemic.
The letter reads, "We are around 40 to 45 students all over Rajasthan, we request you to kindly give us one more chance this year. Your decision can give some hope to many hopeless students who are suffering from depression and financial instability."
Various reasons by students for not clearing the examination in given attempts
Here are the following reasons the students have written in the letter for why they could not clear the examination in the given attempts:
- CBME (Competency-Based Medical Education) and New Scheme rules were implemented by NMC from the 2019 batch only.
- The pattern of university exams also got changed from the 2019 batch only.
- Due to the global Covid pandemic, most of the classes the students took were online classes without practicals.
- Many students are suffering from mental depression due to the fear of getting expelled from college.
- Many students could not focus on their studies due to financial issues.
"Most of the students are from government colleges who got admission due to their good ranks in the NEET UG examination are being expelled from colleges," added the letter.
