Gen. VK Singh said that many of the polish people he met are willing to take up the responsibility of the education of Indian students

Polish people have come forward to help Indian students in the completion of their education, who had to leave in the midst of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The information was shared by Union Minister of State, Civil Aviation Gen(Retd) VK Singh.

General Singh is in Poland to coordinate between the Polish government and the Indian Embassy in the evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine through Poland.

While interacting with around 600 Indian students at Hotel Prezydenckie in Rzeszow, Poland, Gen. VK Singh said that many of the polish people he met are willing to take up the responsibility of education of Indian students who had to leave their course in between due to Russian attack on Ukraine.

Gen. Singh said: “If your course isn't complete...all people I met in Poland said that they'll take up responsibility for the education of all students who were in Ukraine.”

There were over 20,000 Indian students in Ukraine, till a week back, the majority of them pursuing their MBBS, who are being evacuated now by India through neighbouring countries.

Yesterday an MBBS student from Karnataka was killed during a missile attack in Kharkiv. Indian students are worried about their future as they do not know if their education will be completed when they come back to Ukraine or will they be able to complete their education elsewhere.

Four Indian Minister to rescue Indians

The central government has sent four ministers to Ukraine’s neighbouring countries to safely evacuate Indians stranded in Ukraine. Jyotiraditya Scindia has been assigned to handle Romania and Moldova, while Kiren Rijiju will head to Slovakia. Hardeep Singh Puri has been sent to Hungary, while VK Singh has been made in charge of the evacuation in Poland.
