SC dismisses plea seeking report on alleged malpractices in NEET UG 2021
Supreme Court has dismissed the plea seeking a report on investigations of the alleged malpractices NEET-UG 2021.
A plea was filed in the Supreme Court that sought investigation details of the FIRs registered in different states over the alleged malpractices in the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) 2021. The apex court has dismissed the plea and said that it realises the issues highlighted by the petitioner but any interference will be detrimental to large numbers of students, and hence the court refused to intervene.
The Supreme Court bench said, "We can't interfere. We understand what you say but it will create a lot of confusion. Any interference at our hands will be detrimental to a large number of students."
The petitioners' advocate said that they are not asking to cancel the examination and take a re-examination as the same was declined by the Supreme Court earlier but they are asking for fact-finding on the FIRs related to NEET 2021 filed at various places.
The top court stated that any observation by the court will confuse students and will be taken out of context. After hearing the court's opinion on this, the petitioners' advocate withdrew the plea and the case got dismissed.
This year the national level medical entrance examination NEET UG has been surrounded by controversies even before it was held on September 12. A section of students wanted to postpone the examination to October. After the examination was conducted in September some reports of the alleged malpractices surfaced, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had found a major scandal of NEET 2021 in which the attempt was to use proxy candidates instead of the real candidates at the examination centre. Also, eight people were arrested in Jaipur in connection with the alleged NEET 2021 paper leak.
