In wake of the increasing number of patients at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences expansion (NIMS), the state government is planning to expand NIMS and for this, the government has approved an administrative sanction of INR 1,571 crore.

“After careful examination of the proposal, administrative sanction was accorded to the tune of INR 1,571 crore towards the NIMS expansion project,” an official statement said, as reported by Indian Express.

After the inauguration of eight new medical colleges and laying the foundation stone for three super-speciality hospitals, now the state government is working towards the expansion of NIMS which is one of the biggest hospitals in the state.

Details of NIMS expansion plan in Telangana

It currently has around 1,800 beds, and there will be additional 2,000 beds, including 500 ICU beds in 42 different wards will be added. Also, at present, NIMS has 30 essential departments along with academics, investigation and research. As per the plan, additional facilities, specialities, departments and infrastructure, which don’t find space in the current premises, will be added to the new building.

The expansion is also part of the Telangana government’s plans to create 10,000 beds in super-speciality hospitals. This includes the 4,000 beds at Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in the four corners of the city and 2,000 beds at Warangal super-speciality hospital.
