Telangana HC rejects Maheshwara Medical College's plea for resuming PG admission

Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed a plea by Maheshwara Medical College requesting directions to the National Medical Council (NMC) to allow it to offer PG medical courses in the forthcoming academic year.

After NMC had withdrawn the letter of permission granted to the college for offering PG medical courses, the college management approached the Telangana high court for relief.

While withdrawing the letter of permission, the NMC had ordered the shifting of students admitted for the academic years 2021-22 and 2022-23 as it had submitted seven fake bank guarantee documents of Bank of Baroda.

After the single-judge court rejected the college's plea, the petitioner college filed an appeal before the division bench.

Senior Counsel D. Prakash Reddy, appearing on behalf of the college, submitted that the college has not acted fraudulently. The document was instead submitted by the consultant with whom the college had an agreement. He also informed the court that genuine guarantees had been submitted to NMC.

The NMC's counsel, Sriranga Poojitha informed the court that the college had admitted students for the 2022-23 year on fake bank guarantees.

The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice N. Tukaramji, rejected the plea of the college.
