TN NEET UG Counselling 2022: 150 MBBS seats likely added in round 2

In wake of 100 MBBS seats added in Trichy SRM Medical College by NMC and additional seats permitted in Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College, TN NEET UG Counselling 2022 is expected to add 150 MBBS seats to the seat matrix of round 2.

Tamil Nadu is expected to add 150 MBBS to the TN NEET UG counselling 2022 round 2 seat matrix. Recently, National Medical Commission (NMC) approved 100 additional seats for Trichy SRM Medical College and the Delhi High Court has permitted Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College to increase seats against NMC's order.

"These seats will be added to the matrix for round 2 along with seats that were left vacant. But that can happen only when Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University sends these additions," said selection committee secretary Dr R Muthuselvan, as reported by TOI.

While dealing with a petition of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College and Hospital raising the issue of denial of the request by NMC for an increased intake of students from 150 to 250, the court directed the college authorities to take admissions of 250 students.

"To meet the rising need for more qualified doctors to serve the country's population, augmentation of medical infrastructure is crucial and hence the role of regulatory bodies like NMC is unquestionably significant. The authorisation procedure must needed be strictly adhered to ensure that there is no decline in the quality of medical education," said Justice Sanjeev Narula, as reported by Economic Times.

TN NEET UG counselling 2022 round 2 registration starts today

Registration for round 2 of counselling will begin today, November 17 and will end on November 19, 2022. The candidates who have not participated in round 1 will not be able to participate in round 2 and choices can be filled between November 20 to November 22.

The seat allotment result for round 2 will be out on November 24, 2022, and students would be able to download the allotment orders by November 25 and can report to their respective colleges by November 28, 2022.
