Along with Indian Medical Association (IMA), the Department of Orthopaedic, Tripura Medical College observed the National Bone and Joint week and Bone and Joint Day and conducted an awareness program among patients and distributed free medicine. On Thursday, the physiotherapy material was also given to the patients.

The event highlighted the increasing number of accident cases. One of the Assistant professors said that the most common cause of death worldwide is a road traffic accident. In the city, most of the people go to the office in their motorcycle and car, some go by public transport such as carpool, buses or taxis. In such a scenario when road accidents are increasing day by day due to traffic, the doctors and Orthopaedic department are significant.

As per many reports, by 2030, road accidents would cause more deaths than TB and HIV/AIDS.

The dignitaries during the event said that it is important to increase awareness regarding the prevention of road traffic accidents as orthopaedic complications occur in an accident. It is equally important to consult an orthopaedic because the problems like muscle pull, soreness, and ligament injury should not be ignored.
