Violence against doctors reported at Dr Baba Sahib Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital

In a recent case of violence against doctors, an on-duty doctor in the paediatric casualty of Dr Baba Sahib Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital has been physically assaulted by the relatives of the patient.

"Disturbing news of Voilence agnst Doctors at the National Capital. Doc on duty assaulted by goons @ baba sahib Ambedhkar Medical College and Hospital. Requesting @LtGovDelhi @ArvindKejriwal @DelhiPolice to take immediate action and arest the culprits," reads a tweet by FAIMA.

As per the report, the paediatric patient was brought in the casualty with a suspected seizure episode, accompanied by 4-5 people. These attendees were counselled about the clinical condition, and prognosis and were advised to admit the patient. The attendants reportedly refused to accept the clinical condition of the child and started verbally abusing the doctors on duty and also physically assaulted the SR on duty, putting the doctor's life under threat. The doctor's stethoscope was snatched and damaged.

The doctors of the medical college have requested to file an institutional FIR against the culprits.

"Such an incident is deeply shameful for the institution and is equivalent to an attack on the entire medical fraternity," reads the doctors' letter to the CMO of the medical college.

"Doctors assaulted, yet again! Horrific incident from BSAH (Ambedkar Hospital, Rohini). Pediatric SR assaulted by relatives. Multiple blows to the chest and face. Delay in Institutional FIR. Accused still roaming free. Central Healthcare Protection Act, WHEN?!!," says FORDA India's tweet.
