As promised in the Union Budget 2022, the national telehealth program is launched and the Ministry of Health has provided the NIMHANS toll-free number for getting psychosocial support.

The Ministry of Health has released the NIMHANS toll-free helpline number for psychosocial support. People can call on 080-46110007 if feeling stressed or anxious.

Ministry of Health has tweeted, "A healthy mind is a healthy you. For psychosocial support, please call NIMHANS toll free helpline #080-46110007. #SwasthaBharat"

There is much emphasis of government on the mental well-being of people after the unprecedented Covid-19 experience. While presenting the Union Budget 2022 on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the launch of a National Tele Mental Health Programme with the collaboration of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) and the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bangalore. IIIT Bangalore is providing technical support and NIMHANS is the nodal centre.

She said while presenting the budget, "The pandemic has accentuated mental health problems in people of all ages. To better access quality mental health counselling and care services, a national tele-mental health programme will be launched. This will include a network of 23 tele-mental health centres of excellence with NIMHANS being the nodal centre and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) Bangalore providing technology support."

"An open platform for the national digital health ecosystem will be rolled out. It will consist of digital registries of health providers and health facilities, unique health identities, consent framework and universal access to health facilities," she had added.
