In response to a PIL alleging that nursing colleges in the tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh are fake and only exist on paper, a division bench of MP High Court has issued notices to 7 such nursing colleges.
Recently, Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council had cancelled the affiliation of 14 nursing colleges of the Gwalior-Chambal region, now a division bench of MP High Court has issued notices to 7 nursing colleges in response to a PIL alleging that nursing colleges in the tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh are fake and only exist on paper.
The High Court had asked the petitioner Vishal Baghel to name those colleges and make them respondents in the case. The list of 7 colleges was sent by the petitioner and the court issued them notices. The hearing is scheduled for April 13. Advocate Deepak Tiwari appeared in court on behalf of the petitioner.
These colleges running only on paper, says petitioner
The petitioner had said in his petition that in the academic year 2020-21, MP Nursing Council had allowed 55 nursing colleges to operate after inspection and verification that they meet all the prerequisites required to run nursing colleges.
However, the petitioner alleges that these colleges are only being run on paper and most of them do not have the facilities, labs, or other necessary infrastructure to run a nursing college.
Reportedly, the registrar of the MP Nursing Council was removed from the post for granting permission to fake nursing colleges, as reported by TOI.
There is no action taken against these colleges so far despite the complaints.
